How do you calculate my scores?

Vigillo calculates scores using the CSA Methodology to measure on-road safety performance.

Data is gathered on a monthly basis from roadside inspections, including all safety-based violations, State-reported crashes, and the Federal motor carrier census to quantify performance in the following Behavior Analysis and Safety Improvement Categories (BASICs).

Vigillo runs this data through a series of automated data cleaning and calculation algorithms based exactly on the published FMCSA CSA Methodology. This provides a first estimate result of BASIC measure.

Then, Vigillo reviews the actual FMCSA CSA data. We feed this data back into our calculations and re-run all numbers so that our calculated results are closer to the actual FMCSA result. We repeat this process over and over until Vigillo's calculated scores are nearly identical to the FMCSA results.
